This pendant contains a so-called black opal from Lightning Ridge in New South Wales. It is called black opal because of its dark baking stone, which makes the colours stand out much stronger. Black opals are rare and very sought after. This opal is blue with really strong blue and green fire. The stone is round with a diameter of 7mm. Because the stone is relatively small, I set in into some Art Deco style metalwork, to give the pendant more substance. The entire pendant is 3.2cm long and 2.1cm wide. The back of the hanger is hallmarked for Edinburgh 2018.
