This is an unusual antique brooch, which is made of 9 carat gold and is set with a central diamond and a white pearl on one end and a black pearl on the other end. Both pearls are ca. 4mm in diameter, and the diamond measures 1mm across. Black pearls are rare, and the combination of a black and white pearl in combination is rarer still.
The back has the old stamp of 9 Ct, which would indicate that this piece is either Victorian or Edwardian, but because the brooch has a kind of early safety catch, I would date it later rather than earlier, Circa. 1900/1910. The actual pin on the back is made of gold plated white metal.
The brooch comes in an antique box (possibly the original), which says that the item has been retailed by a goldsmith from Bolton.
The brooch weighs 1.74 grams and everything is in excellent condition.
