This is an absolutely beautiful pendant, which is made of 9 carat gold and is set with two peridots and many small pearls. It is made in the typical Lavalier style of the Edwardian period and dates from that time. The pendant can also be used as a brooch, because it has a pin on the back, and the hanger neatly folds over and disappears behind the brooch. The central peridot has a diameter of 7mm, and the one in the drop is 1cm long and 5mm wide at its widest point. When worn as a pendant, the entire piece is 5.5cm long, and when worn as a brooch, it is 4.5cm long. Its width is 3.1cm. The back has the old Edwardian stamp of 9C and nearby there is the letter A, which I take to be the maker’s mark. The piece weighs 3.12 grams and is in superb condition – a very intricate and simply gorgeous work of art.
