This is a lovely pair of silver earrings, which were designed by John Hart from Celtic Art Industries, the well-known jewellers’ association and workshop on the Scottish island of Iona. John Hart was one of their later designers, whose work dates mainly from the 1950s and 60s. These earrings have a very Scottish flair with four silver thistles surrounding a central agate. The stones are 5mm in diameter, and each earring has a diameter of 1.5cm, a good size for studs, so that they will not just disappear under your hair. The backs are stamped with John Hart’s interlinked initials “JH” and the words “Silver”, “Iona” and “Scotland”. The butterflies are not stamped. Everything is in excellent condition, and with a pedigree like this, you can be sure that you are wearing quality jewellery, something special, which is not readily available at any high street jeweller’s shop.
