This is a lovely Victorian ring, which is made of 15 carat gold and set with a turquoise and two small diamonds. The central turquoise is domed and has a diameter of 4mm. Some turquoises go greenish with age, but this one still got its original colour. The two diamonds are 1.5mm in diameter. They are faceted with a slightly irregular cut, which must have been done by hand. The shoulders are nicely decorated with stripes and dots. The ring face, including the shoulders, is ca. 2cm long and 5mm high. The shank tapers towards the back, where it is still 3mm high at its lowest point. The inside is hallmarked as 15 carat for Birmingham 1892, which is almost right in the middle of the entire duration of the 15 Ct gold standard (from 1858 to 1933). The maker’s mark is G&L. The ring is size N. It weighs 1.94 grams and is in great condition.
