This is a most unusual vintage brooch or scarf pin, which is made in the shape of a safety pin. Difficult to date precisely, but I would think Circa. 1980’s/90’s and made in Germany.
The metal is solid 14 carat white gold, and the top is set with many individual diamonds. The central diamond is the largest with a diameter of 3mm, the 12 other diamonds are 1.5mm in diameter each, which makes a total of approx. 0.4 carats. All of the diamonds are bright and clear and I think of good quality.
The brooch is 3.5cm long and 8mm wide and weighs 3.22 grams.
The safety catch on the back must have been added later and this work has partially obscured the original hallmark. The safety catch therefore has an additional, hand-engraved number “585” for solid 14 carat gold.
The brooch is in excellent condition, with no damage or obvious signs of wear.
A beautiful and probably unique quality piece, for those looking for something a bit different in their jewellery.
