This is a heavy gentleman’s ring, which is made of 9 carat gold and is set with a round, faceted garnet. The garnet is 6 mm in diameter and sits in the centre of an 8mm square ring face. The sloping shoulders are nicely decorated with a criss-cross pattern. The shank gently tapers from 8mm at the shoulders down to 4mm at the back. The inside of the ring is hallmarked for Birmingham 1971with the maker’s initials of J.H. The ring is size M, a relatively small ring size for a man; it therefore could easily fit a lady as well. The ring weighs 5.5 grams and is in very good condition.
