This is an unusual pietra dura pendant, which is made of a slab of malachite, which has been inlaid, by hand, with various other precious and semi-precious stones to form a picture of a sailing boat in the sunset. The sail, for example, is a opal, the water is onyx, the sun will be coral, and so forth. The back is just the plain malachite. The entire pendant is set in a hexagonal Sterling silver frame, and the inside of the hanger is stamped 925. It is 3.5cm long or 5cm long including the hanger and 3cm wide at its widest point. The pendant is in excellent condition – a beautiful piece of jewellery for someone who likes something a bit out of the ordinary.
