This is a vintage pendant, which I set anew with an Australian opal from Lightning Ridge in New South Wales. The stone is 1cm long and 8mm wide and weighs 1.65 carats. At first glance you might think that it is a Coober Pedy opal because of its light grey background, but we bought the stone in its uncut state in Lightning Ridge and can be sure of its origin. It displays a really good fire of red, green and some yellow – colours that don’t just cover the surface but go all the way through the stone. The entire pendant is 1.6cm wide and 2.9cm long including the bail. The back contains a number of marks, only they are tiny. One is a full British hallmark for 9 Ct gold, and if I can make it out correctly, it is for London 1984. On the opposite side there are two symbols which I am unfamiliar with, and the bail is stamped 375 (for 9 carat). Everything is in fine condition. – I am selling this pendant without a chain, but gold chains are available elsewhere on this website.
