This is a vintage necklace of a somewhat Celtic design with two lateral wings that interlock through a central ring. Below the central ring, there is an oval drop with a black opal from the Lighning Ridge mines in Australia. I have added this drop myself to the originally plain necklace and set it with one of our own opals. It is a good quality stone, 1.5cm long and 6mm wide, with a dark blue background and flashes of lighter blues. The winged part of the pendant is 4.5cm wide, and the depth of the pendant is 2.9cm. In its spread out condition, the necklance is 49cm long. The back of the pendant is stamped with the maker’s initials of KH and other symbols (see photo), and the catch of the chain is stamped 925 for Sterling silver. It is a lovely necklace, probably designed for everyday wear, but dressy enough to be worn in the evening or for a special occasion.
